Brazil Cut to Junk by S&P; Outlook Negative

(Bloomberg) -- S&P says negative outlook reflects what it
believes is a greater than one-in-three likelihood of a further
downgrade due to a further deterioration of Brazil’s fiscal
position, potential key policy reversals given the fluid
political dynamics, including a further lack of cohesion within
the president’s cabinet, or due to greater economic turmoil than
it currently expects.

* S&P is lowering the long-term foreign and local currency
sovereign ratings on Brazil to BB+ and BBB-, respectively
* S&P sees Brazil real GDP contraction about 2.5% this year,
0.5% in 2016.
* S&P sees Brazil real GDP with modest growth in 2017
* S&P sees Brazil general government deficit to rise to an
average of 8% of GDP in ’15 & ’16 before declining to 5.9%
in 2017
