El precio del IO se mueve por oferta y demanda. Ser líder en la Industria te permite manejar la oferta de acuerdo a tus necesidades si los precios no acompañan. Insisto en que mas importante que los precios es que la demanda del IO continue al alza. Ahora informan que el stock de IO en los puertos de China comienza a diminuir y oh casualidad los precios del mineral estan rebotando...

The Rio de Janeiro-based company said iron ore production jumped 11% to 86.2 million tonnes in the January-March period, compared to the same quarter a year earlier.

The figure however, was 6.7% lower than total iron ore output of 92.386 million tonnes in the prior three months, and the company said it might restrain supply even further in coming months to support prices if necessary.

For now, however, the mining giant reiterated its output guidance for the year of between 360 million and 380 million tonnes of seaborne.
"There are indications that stockpiles in China are decreasing (albeit from record highs) which may slow or even halt the decline”

“I also think the handover of power that will be occurring in China later in the year will have a stabilizing influence, as the incoming government will not want to see wild swings in the economy and will want to see growth maintained as they assume power,” said the CSA Global consultant, who has more than 25 years of experience in exploration and mining geology, particularly in the iron ore sector.

Steel production in China increased in 2016 and it’s predicted to do so again this year to support infrastructure projects as Beijing tries to stimulate the economy.

Por lo que entiendo, si USA frena importaciones de acero, entonces las siderurgicas de USA deberian importar mas IO para generar acero para abastecer el mercado...seria asi?

Steelmakers rebounded in a big way today after Pres. Trump ordered a U.S. investigation of steel imports and China iron ore prices rose following a selloff that may have been overdone.

But a WSJ analysis notes that Trump’s bid to slow the flow of imports into the U.S. steel market is fighting strong currents: U.S. market prices are among the world’s highest, and a strong dollar makes overseas products even more competitive.

Wider duties on imports also could encourage U.S. producers to further drive up their prices, complicating Trump’s pledge to support U.S. manufacturers.

Even within the U.S. steel industry, many of the biggest producers are global companies with operations that could be affected by new trade sanctions.
