The Dow’s 50 worst days
August 4, 2011, 1:20 PM.Thursday’s selloff in U.S. markets is dramatic, but still doesn’t rise to those seen at the height of the credit crisis in 2008, at least not yet.
The 372.9 point decline in the Dow earlier Thursday would qualify as the 28th worst day for the index in the past 20 years, based on data compiled from FactSet Research.
The Dow’s single worst point decline occurred Sept. 29, 2008 when it fell 777.68 points after Congress failed to pass the initial TARP legislation.
