Oil Tumbles as EU’s Iran Oil Embargo Said Likely Delayed for Six Months
Oil fell, erasing an earlier increase, after it was said that a proposed European Union embargo of Iranian oil imports was likely to be delayed for six months.
The postponement will allow countries such as Greece, Italy and Spain to find alternative supply, an EU official with knowledge of the talks said.
Crude for February delivery tumbled $1.47, or 1.5 percent, to $99.40 a barrel at 2:15 p.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
