Gold security
Lebanon has the greatest gold security, as measured by the ratio of gold reserves to GDP. The graphic below excludes the US, Germany, France, Italy (which were above the trendline) and China, Japan and the UK (which were below) - the GDP and reserve numbers were so large they re-scaled the chart. Gold reserve data from the World Gold Council, with amendments by FT to include recent gold purchases by India, Malaysia and Sri Lanka; GDP data from WTO. Last updated November 26, 2009.
